Butyl is a flexible rubber that provides high permeation resistance to corrosive acids, gases, esters, ketones, toxic chemicals and water vapors. It is also resistant to oxygenated solvents and most oxidizing chemicals. Unsupported gloves are designed with and without a knitted or woven liner. They are more economical and are used in tasks that require more dexterity and involve light-to-medium chemical applications. Unlined gloves do not have a knitted or woven lining. They offer high level of dexterity, elasticity and chemical resistance.
