Kids Helping Kids: T.E.A.C.H. Kits

Living in the age of school shootings, how a 10-year-old girl took positive action to conquer fears!

McKinsey Brown was troubled by the story of a close family friend who became physically sick every day after watching a video regarding the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999. McKinsey asked her Mom if in lieu of receiving birthday gifts, could she ask for donations to somehow help. McKinsey felt the need to help protect herself and her fellow students in the event of such a tragedy. Not knowing what to do to address her daughter’s concerns, Jennifer discussed the issue with a friend, Mike Buffum, Tactical Medic Program Operational Coordinator in a local county. Mr. Buffum found a kit known as the “Teach Emergency Action Care Help” kit or T.E.A.C.H. made by Safeware, Inc. This Portable, waterproof kit would allow first responders to initiate care before more advanced medical assistance arrived on the scene.
